POLITICAL RELATIONS BETWEEN TÜRKİYE AND DENMARK, December 2022

Türkiye’s relations with Denmark go back to the Ottoman era and begin with the Friendship and Trade Agreement which was signed between Osman III and Frederik V on 14 October 1756. The Kingdom of Denmark appointed its first representative to the Ottoman Empire in 1758.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Türkiye and the Kingdom of Denmark were established with the Friendship Agreement dated 26 January 1925. First Turkish Ambassador to Denmark was appointed in 1960.

Türkiye's bilateral political relations with Denmark have been shaped mostly within the framework of NATO and Türkiye’s EU perspective as well as our cooperation on regional and international issues. There is a common will to develop and diversify the areas that we cooperate. To this end, mutual visits are being organized and meetings are being held between the institutions of the two countries.
