Dear members of the Turkish community in Denmark,

Dear Danish friends hosting us in Denmark,

I assumed my duty as the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Copenhagen on 26 July 2022. I am very honored and pleased to represent our country in Denmark, an ally with whom we have friendly relations.

Our diplomatic relations with Denmark was established in 1925, and our Embassy has begun serving as of 1960. However, the history of our relations is much older than that. Our relations with Denmark are shaped around the international and regional cooperation mechanisms, mainly around our alliance within NATO and Türkiye’s EU membership process. Furthermore, there is a mutual will to improve and diversify the bilateral cooperation between our countries.

The trade volume between Türkiye and Denmark, which exceeded 2.3 billion USD in 2021, is expected to break a record at the end of 2022 by reaching 2.7 billion USD. We are making every effort to bring our bilateral economic and commercial relations to a higher level by utilizing its real potential and to develop our cooperation in the field of investments.

Another important aspect of our relations with Denmark is the Turkish community who has been present here since late 1960s. The Danish-Turkish community is currently the largest immigrant community in Denmark with a population of approximately 75,000 people. Thanks to their hardworking character, low rates of involvement in criminal activities and high level of education especially of the new generations, they have successfully merged their Turkish identity with their Danish citizenship. Hence the Danish-Turkish community is an invaluable asset in our relations with Denmark.

During my tenure, I will be doing my best to develop the relations between Türkiye and Denmark in every possible area, and within this framework I will work to expand our bilateral trade volume and mutual investments, to strengthen the political, military and security cooperation between the two countries and to enhance the social and cultural ties between our peoples.

I would like to emphasize that the doors of our Embassy are always open to you and we will be pleased to receive your valuable opinions on any matter that will help us to provide you with more effective support and to be beneficial to the relations between Türkiye and Denmark.
